The Bamberg Chamber Orchestra
was established in 1991 by musicians from the Bamberg
area under the initiative of the conductor Gerhard Olesch.

The debut took place in the summer of 1992 in Seehof Palace. Today the orchestra’s regular line-up counts 30 musicians.

Between 1994 and 2002 the adjunct leader of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, Harald Orlobsky, filled the position of artistic director. During this period the orchestra reached its goal of intensifying its collaboration with professional musicians and young talents of high artistic merit.
After 2003, when the orchestra fell again under the leadership of its original founder Gerhard Olesch, it succesfully established its positon as one of the most popular classical music formations in and beyond the area of Bamberg, not least due to the collaboration with well-known soloists of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra.

His artistic activities were completed by his collaboration as a violist with several orchestras, among others with the Hanover Chamber Symphony and the Young European Philharmonic Orchestra Brussels. He successfully worked in the USA as assistant conductor, teaching at the same time viola. Intensifying his conducting studies, he took part at numerous international conducting courses, completing his academic formation in the Kapellmeister class at the Music Academy Dresden in July 2005.
